“These hallowed grounds are places where ordinary citizens performed deeds of extraordinary valor; where the descendants of those who fought at Monmouth, Princeton, Trenton and other historic sites and battlegrounds can walk in the footsteps of those ancestors. Beyond their role as memorials, these historic sites are outdoor classrooms, teaching young and old alike that the freedoms we enjoy today were paid for in blood on those same battlegrounds. These lands offer vital connections to the past and insights into the future in a way that no textbook, movie or television program ever could.”
